Eid Al Fitr get together

Memon Community in the UAE held on Friday 21st September 2012 an event to celebrate Eid al fitr family get together combined with 14th Annual Prize distribution function for those children of the Community members who excelled in their final examination in the academic year 2011/2012. This 14th event consistently held every year without break was organized at the premises of His Highness Sheikh Rashid al Maktoum Pakistan School. Over 1,100 Community members their families and children attended the event. Children of the community were felicitated for achieving good results in their last final examination this year, while their parents and families had good opportunity of interaction with each other exchanging Eid greetings and sharing news and views in the spirit of brother hood and common understanding.

His Excellency Jamil Ahmed Khan Sitarae Imtiaz the Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, His Excellency Tariq Iqbal Soomro Consul General and Dr. Abdur Rashid Bangash Principal of Pakistan School were the guests of honour. Several senior and leading members of the community were present at the event.

Muhammad Iqbal Dawood, a member of Organizing Committee compeered the proceedings.

Verses from the Holy Quran were recited by Mohammed Saleh Umar Maklai and their translation in Urdu was presented by Ayman Iqbal Shivani. Following that Mr. Muhammed Rafique Noorani recited Nat-e-Rasool (Sall Allaahu `alayhi wa sallam).

UAE National Anthem was played. All attendees stood up as mark of respect.

Both the Ambassador and the Consul General in their brief address congratulated the community children and their parents. They extended best wishes to them and commended the role played by Memon Community in business, industry and welfare work here in the UAE and several other countries where the community members reside.

 

The Consul General urged the parents to encourage their children specially the girls to go for higher education after finishing the secondary level. He expressed confidence that children who go for higher education will have better future and they will also be able to contribute in the economy and social life of the community. He commented that distribution of prizes will motivate the children to focus on their studies and put in hard work and achieve better results.

 

 

His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his delight that he was amongst members of the Community that had actively participated and played a vital role in the independence movement resulting in the creation of Pakistan. He recollected the history of help a Memon philanthropist (Sir Adamjee) who had presented a blank cheque to the founder of Pakistan for making payment of salaries to the Government employees of the newly established country after independence on 14 August 1947. He also recounted the industries and businesses established in large number by the community to contribute towards Pakistan’s economic development. He lauded the community’s services in the field of welfare thru several social organizations. Ambassador regretted the recent unfortunate incidences of insult to the peaceful religion Islam and attempted efforts to damage the noble image of the last Prophet Muhammed (Sall Allaahu `alayhi wa sallam) by certain mischievous non-believers of USA and Europe. He agreed that these incidences have very rightly angered the Muslim Ummah all over the world as they (Believers) have in their heart love for the Prophet (Sall Allaahu `alayhi wa sallam) over anything else in the world. He, however advised that such anger and protest should be exhibited in peaceful manner.

 

 

 

 

 

Iqbal Shivani called the children class wise to collect prizes and merit certificates. 110 Girls and 98 boys received prize and merit certificate for their excellent results. 31 results were not accepted as those did not comply with the criteria communicated to the members in circulars emailed by Organizing Committee. The children were very happy receiving the deserved prize for their hard and dedicated efforts.

Following 4 Hafizul Qur’an (all boys) received special award including Free Umrah voucher by road.

Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Dawood extended warm welcome to the honorable guests and community members present at the function. He informed them that Annual General Meeting of World Memon Organization was held in June this year at its headquarters in London UK. Certain members of the Management Committee Middle East chapter had participated.

 

 

     

 

Mr. Aboobaker Cassim Senior Vice President could not attend in person due to his ill health. But, in his message he extended warm welcome to the distinguished guests and members of the Community who were present at the event in large number. He wished Eid Mubarak to all attendees and congratulated students on their success in examination this year. He wished the event a success.

Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Fancy, General Secretary addressed the gathering and at the outset he regretted that community members do not reach the venue on time despite repeated requests in the communications mailed to them as well as reminding them at each event in the past. It was very embarrassing that when guests of honor arrived not more than a couple of members were present. He again reiterated his request to members to please respect time and make it convenient to reach the venue early. He welcomed the guests, members of the community and children who were present at the event. He extended greetings to community members on Eid al Fitr and congratulated children on their success in the final examinations He expressed his thanks to all community members for their continued support and cooperation.

It was pleasing to see a large number of community members present that fulfills main objective of holding this annual event, to appreciate the efforts of those children who with their hard work, serious efforts and dedication achieved the excellence in their examinations. Such events motivate other children to concentrate on their studies and work harder to achieve better marks in examination. Another objective of the event is to provide community members a platform to get together, meet and know each other exchanging greetings and sharing news and views on their happy events and difficulties if any.

Dua’a e Magferat was made for those community members who passed away during the year 2012 and attendees joined in sharing the grief and sorrow on demises. Message of condolence and dua’a is forwarded individually to aggrieved members and their family as and when the Committee learns the news of sad demise.

Memento was presented to each guest of honor in appreciation of their support to the Community.

Dr. Abdur Rashid Bangash Principal of School in his vote of thanks congratulated the children and parents. He also expressed his appreciation for the event well organized. Mr. Bangash assured the community of his continuous support and making the school premises available for arranging such educational events and social gatherings as and when requested by the Community. His gesture was well received by the attendees.

Indeed, it was very pleasing event of Education Prize Distribution that has been held and organized for the past 14 years consistently without a break.

A separate letter of thanks has been mailed to all contributors and donors for their continued support, help, co-operation and encouragement. Members of the Organizing Committee continue their voluntary hard work and put in efforts to make these events successful.

Event proceedings were concluded with Dua'a.

Following that dinner was served. Members of the community generally expressed their pleasure and appreciation for organizing the event that provided them yet again an opportunity for interaction, extending each other greetings and exchanging views and news. The venue gave an impressive and festive look.

Those children who did not attend the event and their prize and certificate remained uncollected are requested to please contact Mr. Umar Abdullah Maklai (050-644 8902/ 04- 226 7692) for collect those.
